I don't know where the figure of 20,000-40,000 men on 600 ships comes from. The danish army fielding 15,000 men, for a raiding expedition is ludicrous in my opinion, all the souces also made it reletively clear that it was a smaller contingent, therfore i estimate 1,500. The wends could definitaly field 10,000 men for this ambush, but fielding 20,000 men without the danes noticing is highly unlikely, so i would put the wendish maximum force to 10,000-12,000 and minimum force to circa 3,000. They're was a oborite fleet of 600 which sailed for denmaek in the mid or late 1170's i think you are conflating the two.
