Notes[edit]

19:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)JimmiemacjDuring a 1964 visit to corregidor i had a long and interesting conversation with a Philippine national who had served on the isle during the battle of 'c'. He stated that there were american nurses in the manila tunnel at this time. Any information as to their fate? ==jimmiemacj==Jimmiemacj 19:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

04 January 2008 I visited Corregidor several times in the mid 1980s. There was a legend of a nurse that hauted the old underground hospital. We walked through the old tunnels and a couple of metal bed frames were still there. For the life of me I cannot remember the nurses' name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.121.16.1 (talk) 16:30, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Search for "Bataan angels" these are the US Nurses during WWII who served in Corregidor :)

See Elizabeth M. Norman (2011). We Band of Angels: The Untold Story of American Nurses Trapped on Bataan by the Japanese. Random House Digital, Inc. ISBN 978-0-307-79957-9. I haven't read it and it's not previewable online, but it looks like what you're looking for. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 06:53, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good, citable source[edit]

I just want to mention Henry C. Dethloff; John A. Adams, Jr.; George H W Bush (2008-06-24), "Chapter 6. We've Never Been Licked", Texas Aggies Go to War: In Service of Their Country, Texas A&M University Press, pp. 78-95, ISBN 9781603440776 {{citation}}: |contributor= requires |contribution= (help) for some good online-viewable information. -- Boracay Bill (talk) 03:13, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Map & hymn[edit]

A map showing the general layout of the island & where it lies in relation to Manila and the rest of the Philipines would be very useful; (to this Limey at least). It could replace the rather grainy aerial view of the island which could be moved down the article, although I would prefer if it was deleted altogether - it doesn't add much to the article. There is a map of the island, en-titled "Map of the Japanese landings...", but it's not very helpful.

On another tack, how can the composer of the Corregidor hymn be unknown if 'he was captured by the Japanese and not seen again'?

Orphaned references in Battle of Corregidor[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Battle of Corregidor's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "jw":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT 22:53, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
