Battle of Bastogne[edit]

I've removed the unsubstantiated claim that "the city was completely destroyed and more than 25,000 people had been killed, not counting the more than 50,000 who were never found." These numbers don't make any sense in the context of Bastogne, although they are close to the combined KIA and MIA numbers for the entire Battle of the Bulge. Pronunciation of Bastogne[edit]

How is Bastogne pronounced? In the mini-series Band of Brothers it is pronounced "Bastone" but I am not sure if that is correct. Can somebody please tell me?--Mart572 (talk) 05:32, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The gn combination is pronounced approximately like a Spanish ñ. If you say "Bastonye", you won't be too far off. The IPA representation would be something like [bas'tɔɲə]. DES (talk) 16:12, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
