FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments[edit]

Does anybody know WHEN is going to be drawn the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments? Leonprimer (talk) 03:47, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hard to say. FIBA should've published the updated FIBA World Ranking last monday, September 16, after the conclusion of the World Cup. The updated ranking will be used to determine the additional 2 participants per continent in the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. For some reason FIBA is delaying the publication of the updated ranking. I read in a greek article that the delay is possibly due to a tie situation between Philippines and South Korea. Besides that, the other 7 additional participants is pretty much determined: Slovenia and Croatia from Europe, Mexico and Uruguay from the Americas, Angola and Senegal from Africa and China from Asia/Oceania. The additional participant from Asia/Oceania will be Philippines or South Korea. FIBA published updated rankings today, but said nothing about draw date, procedures or pots. Just said that bidding process for hosts will begin soon. An auction really.
