Fair use rationale for Image:Barryharrisalbumcover.jpg[edit]

Image:Barryharrisalbumcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lee Morgan[edit]

Would it be appropriate to list Lee Morgan under Associated Acts? CopaceticThought (talk) 06:30, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very hard to understand paragraph "theoretical concepts"[edit]

Can someone who is familiar with the Barry Harris Method please rewrite that paragraph by expanding it, giving examples, adding wiki links, etc. I am learning Jazz improvisation and I do not understand that paragraph. It is just too short. As Mr. Harris is famous for his method, it would be more than appropriate to give more space to the fundamentals of this method... Thank you very much! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Digisus (talkcontribs) 18:36, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Try reading it now. "...a major scale with a half step between the 5th and 6th degrees" suggested a standard 7-note major scale but with a flatted sixth (or raised fifth) degree. This is not at all what the original author intended. Rather, an extra ("8th") scale degree is inserted between 5 & 6 (e.g. G#/Ab between G & A in the C major scale). This lets the exercise make sense: C E G A, D F Ab B, E G A C, F Ab B D, G A C E...

The reference to minor sixth and diminished b5 chords substitutes C Eb G A and C E F# Bb, respectively, for C E G A in the the above example. In all cases the fully dimished seven represented by the enharmonic equivalents of D F Ab & B (In C major) remain the same. Hope this helps.Sinnis (talk) 12:43, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Simplifying, here are the three scales in the key of C: [C D E F G Ab A B] [C D Eb F G Ab A B] [C D E F Gb Ab Bb B]. --98.154.203.28 (talk) 05:56, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK guys hear is one more explanation: remember we have 3 diminishes Cdim C sharp D dim. in major C6 chord C&A are from C dim, E & G are from C# dim. there is one diminish that is not there. that is D dim. we put that D dim with C6 and we are having THE BEST SCALE. same with minor 6 dim C Efl G A. C Efl & A are from C dim. G is from C# dim D dim is missing ,so we put D dim with Cm6 and we have Cm 6 dim scale. same with dim scale. It is 2 diminishes together Cdim and C# dim (some dump , so called jazz collages teaching some stupid shit , like half step whole step, but thats just some nonsense. Thats why Barry always talks about 3 DIMINISHES . They fop the chromatic scale which is our universe

peace everyone.

enjoy the music and have fun with movements . LOVE&MUSIC VAHAG.
