I'm a bit confused - were there two baronies named Clifford? I know the 1st Earl of Burlington was married to the 2nd Baroness Clifford, but it says on his page he was (presumably also) created Baron Clifford of Lanesborough in his own right. Why? what was the nature of the first barony? was it passed through the female line? How come it didn't follow the Devonshire dukedom? is it extinct- if not, what does abeyance mean? cheers--130.88.188.14 18:37, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Is the Baron Clifford ur talking about Baron Clifford of Chudleigh?
