(1) Hardly anyone will know for sure what these abbreviations mean. Who can fix them?

(2) From the article: "Banns has the same origin meaning an official proclamation [...]." I'm not quite sure about the syntax here. Anyone able to help? <K F> 15:00, September 12, 2005 (UTC)
