Does anyone know what type of knot is tied on top? If so it would be good to mention it.

The knot in the diagram isn't detailed enough to really identify it specifically, though it's generally bowline-esque -- which is the knot mentioned in ABOK and would be the logical choice for a simple fixed loop at the end of a rope. I've attempted to make it clearer that the bale sling hitch is the arrangement around an object rather than the specific manner of forming the loop used to make it. --Dfred (talk) 12:42, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
