Baladi[edit]

Baladi means literally "of the country". The meaning "folk" is derived from that.

Why is "Baladi" used here exclusively for dancing, and not to explain the word itself (for example people use the word to describe things, like a Baladi chicken, or Baladi zucchini, to say it's the local cultivator).
