Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved. The policy WP:COMMONNAME requires evidence of usage in reliable sources, not in discussion forums or micro-blogging platforms. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 05:54, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AutoMaidanAutomaidan – Main aricle was named Euromaidan, not EuroMaidan. Uk-wiki article named Автомайдан. Sources in mass media: [1] [2] [3] Official twitter: Automaidan. NickSt (talk) 14:23, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. You did not name mass media but some discussion forums. Twitter page also does not state your point but "automaidan". See official Facebook page [4], sources in real mass media [5][6]. Gryffindor (talk) 22:58, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Discussion forums?!?! Not reliable sources? LOL! See my links! UNIAN is one of the top news agency in Ukraine. Segodnya is top newspaper in Ukraine. NickSt (talk) 13:08, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Your sources are all in Cyrillic however, which complicates the matter. Please show for sources in Latin letters that can help to determine which spelling is the correct one. Gryffindor (talk) 22:51, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AutoMaidanAutomaidan – I want to update this article to reflect common usage(WP:COMMONNAME, which has shifted since 2014 to reflect Euromaidan), so I attempted to move the redirect Automaidan out of the way, however, it created a redirect to the redirect. What is the proper procedure here? Cononsense (talk) 19:05, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Cononsense, asking for a technical request is not wrong per se, but the page has been moved from Automaidant 18:07, 13 May 2022 (UTC), and a move discussion happened in 2014. It is difficult to argue that renaming articles related to Ukraine is uncontroversial. Hence, the requested move discussion here. Hope that helps. • Support The organization uses this capitalization in Ukrainian and English, so without any evidence that it’s not the WP:COMMONNAME, just rename it. —Michael Z. 18:52, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
