Metric Conversion[edit]

Is it necessary to give the bridge's length in km after it has already been given in meters? I can understand converting feet to miles, since the math is a bit more complicated, but dividing by 1000 is not all that difficult. 71.131.246.136 02:45, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Panorama Photo[edit]

The twilight photo is a pretty picture, but it is not at all clear to someone like me who lives nowhere near the Pacific Northwest that the photo is of the same bridge. It looks like a photo of a completely different bridge was inserted. If this is the same bridge, maybe a daytime photo from the other end would make it clear that this is the same bridge. It's the same bridge, that's showing the hump on the north channel and Astoria. I like it. tedder (talk) 17:47, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it looks like a complete different bridge, even though I've seen it many times, I've rarely seen it from the perspective of being in Washington. However, while the view from there de-emphasizes the signature portion of the bridge—the high clearance span adjacent to Astoria—it emphasizes the relationship the bridge has with the city. It even makes Astoria look glamorous.
The view of Saddle Mountain is surprising—I've stood on top of that thing dozens of times and rarely could see Astoria due to clouds or fog. When I could see, I was in awe of the Columbia River and barely noticed the city, except to confirm I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. —EncMstr (talk) 18:13, 13 July 2010 (UTC)-[reply]

I just drove over that bridge on the weekend and the panaramic photo is not the same bridge at all! Look how low the entire thing is to the water on the Oregon side - this photo is completely wrong! It's showing many more covered sections than the three at the highest part of the span on the Oregon side. And the shape of the too many covered sections does not match the Megler bridge. cburton 07-08-2013
