Jews vs. Israelites[edit]

The opening sentence of this article is technically incorrect. The "Jews" were a later name given to the citizens of the nation of Judah, later called the province of Judea in Roman times. The Northern Kingdom was called "Israel" in contrast to the southern kingdom called "Judah." Though they shared a common origin and descent from the patriarch Jacob, it is anachronistic to call the citizens of the Northern Kingdom of Israel "Jews". The correct term is "Israelites." Return[edit]

I delete the paragraph that begins by saying: "This particular verse is often misconstrued" because it is a personal opinion, not based on academic sources or text, and confusing. In the same way, I remove the following paragraph that says: "The scriptures of the titled" Old Testament "are not accurately complete without the records of those Hebrew writers that penned them..." etc., because it is not clear what it refers to. In any case, it is marginal to the subject of the article. It would be desirable for these articles to be written taking into account the contributions of History and Archeology, without religious or nationalist agendas.--Gustavo Rubén (talk) 23:47, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
