VFD notification[edit]

This article was nominated for Articles for deletion on Aug. 26, 2005. The result of the discussion was that the article should be KEPT but completely REWRITTEN (at present, it reads like a 1-paragraph essay). I closed the discussion and placed a {{cleanup}} tag on the article instead of a {{rewrite}} tag, because the "rewrite" template says that the article is being written somewhere, and specifies a location. I don't see any evidence that that's the case, so since the biggest problem I see with the article at present is its journalistic prose and paucity of encyclopedic content, I think {{cleanup}} is the best option here. Also, depending on how contributors feel, it might be prudent to add {{expand}} as well, but I'll leave that up to those contributing to the article itself. A record of the VFD discussion can be found here. Tomer TALK 07:33, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

No citations[edit]

This article has a lot of information, but no inline citations, which means it fails to meet Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. Probably this article needs to simply be rewritten from the ground up. In the next few days, I intend to do this, but if anyone's watching this talk page who wants to start referencing what's here instead, please feel free. Since I haven't heard from anyone above, I've attempted a rewrite from scratch of this article based primarily on the NYT and Guardian obituaries. This is still a bit skeletal and other (sourced) additions would be welcome if anybody's watching. Khazar2 (talk) 20:53, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
