Shouldn't it be mentioned that 'florin' stems from 'floryn' -- the old Dutch currency (before the Dutch Guilder), as Aruba is still connected to the Dutch?

What is the origin of the word 'Yotin'? - (Aidan Work 06:03, 5 December 2005 (UTC))[reply]

Symbol for the florin[edit]

I am trying to update this page with the correct sign (or symbol) used to represent the florin within Aruba. Does anyone know more about this?

I can find sources mentioning 3 different formats:

I updated the article to use "Afl." on the basis of the Central Bank source, but i'm not sure if that's appropriate. Perhaps we should mention all three symbols.

Any input—especially from any Arubans reading this—would be appreciated. :) —fudoreaper (talk) 09:15, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think “ƒ” is more plausible than “Afl” because the latter seems to be an abbreviation of the full name of the currency, the “A” would stand for Aruba. I don’t think Arubans think of their currency as the “Aruba florin,” but rather just the florin. – Zntrip 21:38, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
