Naming of page[edit]

Per the MOS we do not put common micknames in the lead. So it should say Arthur Alexander Link not Arthur Alexander "Art" Link'. If he was in fact normally known as Art, and this is the common name he was referred to by than the article should be renamed to Art Link per the common name rules.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:12, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That's my mistake. I thought I understood the MOS on names, but upon rereading MOS:NICKNAME, I see that, since "Art" is a common shortening of "Arthur", I should follow the example at Bill Gates, not the example at Tina Fey. As for the name of the article, while "Art" appears to be the name Link most often used personally and professionally, I can find plenty of examples that refer to him as "Arthur" as well, so it's ambiguous what to do as per WP:COMMONNAME. I would be fine either way, with perhaps a slight vote for moving to Art Link, since there's already a redirect here by that name. —LinkTiger (talk) 20:25, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
