Argyle, Argyll[edit]

If the street is named after a Duke of Argyll why is there a spelling discrepancy? And which Duke of Argyll was the street names after? This article is poorly (not) referenced.78.86.61.94 (talk) 21:51, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suitable reference to the above now added. Historic spellings are not always consistent as they changed with usage, just as some words have changed spelling and usage in this generation (innit). Baldy Bill (sharpen the razor|see my reflection) 18:48, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
