Opening heading[edit]

Arazi's Timeform rating of 135 is certainly not "a score unmatched for a two-year-old." In fact, Timeform have awarded nine two-year-olds ratings of 135 or more, the highest being the 142 awarded to Windy City in 1951.

In general, I feel that the tone of this article is slightly over-enthusiastic. Racing history is littered with horses like Arazi: spectacularly precocious two-year-olds who for one reason or another never fulfilled their promise. The Tetrarch is probably the most famous of these. Bartflower 16:39, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Move back to Arazi. This article was at simply Arazi until earlier today and there is no other article needing the title except a newly created page listing people with that surname. Move that page to Arazi (surname) and put a hatonote on this article pointing there. Station1 (talk) 01:54, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename and move, per proposal. The proposal is meant to correct a mistake, and the correction itself is not disagreed with above. The reason for the dab page "Arazi" is that there are (now) 10 articles with Arazi in the name, including 4 places and 5 surnames, reflected on the dab page. A dab page as indicated is appropriate here. Per Wikipedia:Disambiguation, this is because:

"Ensuring that a reader who searches for a topic using a particular term can get to the information on that topic quickly and easily, whichever of the possible topics it might be. For example, the page Mercury is a disambiguation page – a non-article page which lists the various meanings of "Mercury" and links to the articles which cover them."

    • Parenthetical disambiguation in a title should be used only when there are two or more articles that need or could reasonably expected to have otherwise identical titles and when the article in question is not the primary topic. In this case no one would reasonably expect the titles of any of the other articles to be simply Arazi. Per WP:PTM, disambiguation pages are not search indices and generally should not list partial title matches. Unless any of the entries are reasonably known in reliable sources simply as Arazi, there is no need for a dab page. But even if a dab page or surname page is created, the horse is still the primary topic for the single word Arazi. Station1 (talk) 17:40, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move as per proposal. Someone typing "Arazi" into the search box might well be looking for any of the entries currently given in the dab page. If they want the horse they can immediately navigate to it. The interests of readers overall are best served by leaving the dab page as it is. SamuelTheGhost (talk) 21:32, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
