I've added some information and a link to a new article Hezbollah of Iran. The two groups are "shadowy" and I think their names sometimes used interchangably, but there does seem to be a difference between them. --BoogaLouie (talk) 20:25, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I find the statement ". . . and attack using bars, chains, and similar weapons[12], sometimes while riding motorcycles" quite ridiculous. It is put in a way as if Ansar-e Hezbollah attack people with these things on a daily basis. While there have been a few such attacks in the past, such as in 1999, these were contrary to the norm (thus they instigated riots, if this was a normal thing it wouldn't have been as big of a deal as it was). Furthermore, the citation given simply states that in 1999 basijis were accused of attacking students using bars and chain. That does not mean that they are characterized by attacking people with bars, chains, and similar weapons. Using similar logic one could say that the US military is characterized by using nuclear weapons becasue the incidents in Hiroshima and Nakazaki. I am going to proceed to remove the second part of that sentence (the quote I gave). If anyone has an alternate arguement, state it. Kabob4life (talk) 01:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

also, the thing about green bandanas is strange becasue nothing in the citations talk about it. I think the writer meant to talk about the Palestinian chafeea that is common among Hezbollahis (as they are called in Iran) Kabob4life (talk) 01:56, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

its a little repetitive to say they are marked by devotion to khamenei and velayate faqi, while khamenei is the velayate faqi, making them basically the same. i think writing their devotion to the priciple's of the revolution, esp velayte faqi, would be more accurate —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.235.17.26 (talk) 05:43, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

also i dont see the last part of "walking with a swagger above the law" as being necessary. lets remember that this is a encyclopedia. that is a little too much POV and generalization. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.235.17.26 (talk) 05:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Connotation of "ansar"[edit]

I assume "ansar" in the name has some overtones of Ansar (Islam) and/or Ansar (military). I just read a news article about Emerson Begolly which said he called Osama bin Laden "Amir of the Ansaar".[1] But not knowing a thing about this, and finding it difficult to search for, I can't write so much as a sentence that I'd feel confident to add about it. Can someone more knowledgeable do something to elaborate this concept? Wnt (talk) 15:49, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
