Peer Review Kelsey Luebbert[edit]

Hello Sean, I think your article is off to a really good start! It seems to have a good foundation, and the lead did draw me in and made me want to read more of the article and education myself on Annie Fisher. One thing i would have to say would be the "Entrepreneurship" section seems to be a little lacking. It is relatively short compared to the rest of the sections. The case may be that there isn't alot of information to go in this section, and in that case i think you should maybe add those two sentences to another section, perhaps the "Cooking and Catering business" section. Another suggestion i have would be to further explain the "beaten biscuits." It is one of the first things you mention in the article, so maybe adding an explanation of what those are in the "cooking and catering business" section would be helpful, although their is a link to the recipe, i think the actual article itself would benefit from some explanation. I think you have a good amount of refrences and most of your statements connect to sources, and they all seem to lead to relevant and reliable sources. Your content seems very neutral in most places, it may lean towards the more positive sides in some sections, but i think that that works for this particular article. Lastly, i think that the "personal life" section could come after the "early life" section, just because those two seem to tie together and flow together more. In some of your sections i made minor changes to sentence structure, because you had a few run on sentences or some that just seemed a bit too long. Overall, i think you have a great start! Keep up the good work. Kelsey Krlhdc (talk) 17:10, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brett Helms- Peer Review[edit]

The article has a great lead section. It gives just the right amount of information, but does not repeat what is already in the article. I enjoyed your syntax; for example, the phrase “amassed a sizeable fortune” stood out to me. You also have great sources in terms of credibility and number. To improve the article, I would start off by creating a clearer structure with your sections. You may want to differentiate the entrepreneurship and cooking and catering business titles. They are both similar since having a business is an entrepreneurship. I would change the titles to something more contrasting and combine the information in one. You could talk about buying a house in her person life section to expand it as well. These changes would improve the article because it would make it less repetitive and would clear up any confusion between the two sections. The most important thing you could do to improve your article would be to arrange the information in a format that has the categorized information under the appropriate heading. Overall, the article seems to meet the Wikipedia requirements and I enjoyed reading it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blh4rf (talkcontribs) 22:42, 6 October 2016 (UTC) Blh4rf (talk) 22:45, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review responses[edit]

Thank you both for your reviews, as per your suggestions I have combined the cooking, catering and entrepreneurship sections into one and have started researching more information I can put into this section. I will work on a more appropriate title for this section as well. I liked your suggestion about adding the biscuit recipe into the article so I added the basic recipe as well as a link to the article it was originally published in. I am also considering rearranging the sections and having the personal life sections come before the cooking section. Again, thank you all for your great recommendations, I think this will end up helping the flow of the article. Sean Dwyer (talk) 17:26, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback from Prof. P[edit]

Above and beyond excellent work here. I love the picture, and the image of the biscuit recipe. You've done a good job at presenting a neutral view, while celebrating the gravity of Annie's achievements as the child of former slaves. Excellent.

How can we ensure that this article is no longer an orphan? Can you edit the Louisiana Purchase Exposition page to add Fischer's biscuits to the "Introduction of New Foods" section? Be sure to mention that she is the daughter of former slaves--that does, and should, carry great weight when marking her contribution. Can we edit a Columbia, MO page and/or a University of Missouri page to cite her (because really she deserves it)? Let's make sure this page is no longer an orphan as of December 2016. Alt. name and additional source + photo[edit]

She appears to be listed as Mrs. Anna R. Fisher here in a Cyclopedia written during her life. A photo is also there although the reproduction at the linked site is poor. I know User:Animalparty has scanned images from this source but I don’t know if he’s done this one. FloridaArmy (talk) 03:03, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Knowles[edit]

Knowles is her maiden name? I’m not sure it should be in quotes. I’ve seen née used. The detailed on her husband in this entry are scant. She took his last name? Why does it say she was born “Knowles” Williams. Surely she was not born with her married name? Cool article. Lots of great info. Thanks for all the work on it.
