Untitled[edit]

Started new page as I think the journal should have a separate article from the school where I took the bulk of the text from. I'll be doing some more tidying and content soon. (Msrasnw (talk) 12:37, 4 November 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Article name[edit]

What is the best name for this article? At present it is

Annales. Histoire, Sciences sociales

I chose this because this seems to be what the current edition (and edition since 1994) is called in my library, and via JSTOR and here: [1] But there is the complication that I went for the lower case s on the sociales following wikipedias normal rules (I think). Would this Annales. Histoire, Sciences Sociales be better?

There is clearly scope for other names in particular just Annales or Annales (journal) and here : [2] this seems to be used for all versions since 1929.

My feeling is the longer name is better but I am not too worried. Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 21:35, 4 November 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Hi Msrasnw. Thank you for creating this page! I agree that "sociales" should not be capitalized (because it's not capitalized in French). I also notice that the French page is titled "Revue des Annales," which means the "Annales's journal." This generic title allows to refer to all incarnations of the journal, from Annales d'histoire économique et sociale to the recent Annales. Histoires, Sciences sociales. I think the title Annales (journal) would be the best English equivalent to Revue des Annales in French. Of course we need to discuss this before making a definite decision, but if we do make the move, there should be redirects to Annales (journal) from every title this journal has ever had, so that readers can find this page no matter what name they look it up by. Current editor[edit]

It seems that Vincent Azoulay is the editor since June 2018. Have a look in the French article, please.--Cabanero (talk) 04:23, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
