Article history[edit]

The usual non-partisan external links for this candidate are now in United States House of Representatives elections in New York, 2010#District 25, so if she ends up winning they should be moved to this article. There was originally an article under this name and/or Ann Marie Buerkle (Politician). On the off-chance it might be something more than a campaign site cut-and-paste, it could presumably be restored to provide a base for a new article if she ends up winning. Political Views & Actions[edit]

Buerkle should have all of her political views and actions listed out on her page. As she is a politician, it is important to document what politicians say & what they do. Since actions can be interpreted differently by different people with different philosophies, it is best to document them all. I tried to find some arguments stating that the patriot act is constitutional, but could not find much. Furthermore the arguments being used to support it contain inherent flaws (which should be mentioned as a subset of the support argument) If there are any flaws for the against argument then put them is a sub-heading of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.69.2.116 (talk) 17:56, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stop deleting my post. Saying that there is not enough citations & then saying that the citations added too much weight is just ridiculous. There is never going to be a 1/2 page article that explains the facts behind a subject - more data is always needed.

Either you leave in the short paragraph about how her vote for patriot act can be seen as in direct contrast with her campaign promises OR you should leave it all in there. The problem with your addition is that it's only tangentially about Buerkle. It's mainly about the Patriot Act. Some of this information might well be suitable for that article (which I haven't looked at). You should think about whether to edit that article to make sure that the criticisms of the Patriot Act are fairly presented. Your extensive research might well be the basis for improvements to that article.

The only connection to Buerkle, however, is that she made a vague Mom-and-apple-pie campaign statement about preserving constitutional rights, and then you draw the link that her Patriot Act vote was inconsistent with that. I'll wager that many, many candidates said at some point that they favored constitutional rights. That doesn't mean that each of their bios is going to be cluttered with an attack on the Patriot Act. That's what wikilinks are for. Put in a simple statement that she voted to renew the Act, provide a source for that fact, and link to the USA PATRIOT Act article.

By contrast, notice how I wrote the health care section. It wasn't me who made the connection. The source I cited specifically criticized Buerkle, by name. This isn't material that could just be dumped generically into the bios of all the ~~right-wing twits~~ Republicans who voted to repeal PPACA. JamesMLane t c 09:26, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Career[edit]

I don't edit wiki articles but there is a silly error in the construction of this article. "Assistant Attorney General of New York" is not an appointed or elected position. It is simply a job. "Assistant Attorney General" is the title given to each of the six hundred and fifty or more trial attorneys working for the AG's office. The presence of this "title" (as well as "In office 1997-2010") in the info bar on the right side makes Ms. Buerkle's experience appear more important than it was. Robo-Signer of Monetary Judgments[edit]

As an AAG, her main job-related duty was signing and filing civil monetary judgments of $1,000.00 or more with the Onondaga County Clerk against hospital patient-defendants treated at SUNY Upstate Medical University and Health Center in Syracuse. This preserved--for 20 years from filing date--a legal right (under NYS CPLR) to recover monies which the State of New York had already written off.
