Culture/Improving the Article[edit]

I think it is important that the section on the Diocese's culture be expanded. It is evident that the trends during Harrower's tenure have been moves towards Pentecostalism and Sydney Anglicanism. The article as it stands is good but needs to provide more sources to give evidence of Harrower's impact.

Overzealous deleting by some users (Saint Anselm) of previous content was unwarranted - they should be seeking out good sources instead.

The section on controversies is problematic - there have been a lot of issues in the Diocese over the last ten-fifteen years from the handling of the sexual abuse crisis, to Harrower's "prophet" to the sale of Holy Trinity and the bankruptcy/alleged embezzlement of funds at Glenorchy. Harrower's recruitment of "Sydney Anglicans" from Moore College is also arguably, a controversial move. These all need to be sourced and presented in a factual tone. My deleting was hardly overzealous - it's exactly what is required by WP:BLP. Notice that this applies to any article. "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." Even to say "Bishop Harrower's leadership style has been one of delegation and decentralization" contravenes this policy. You have been warned. Thank you for explaining. I will read that policy later - it seems very restrictive that you cannot even mention a leadership style though as that strikes me as a very neutral statement. What about citing parish websites themselves, where they talk about their own ethos? Thanks for your response. It is OK to say that All Saints identifies itself as Anglo-Catholic (reference: http://www.allsaints-southhobart.org.au/main/main.html). But that reference does not say it is the only Anglo-Catholic parish in the Hobart are, and it certainly doesn't suggest why it would be if it is. Similarly, "The Edge" identifies itself as in being "in the evangelical charismatic tradition" (reference:http://www.edgeanglican.org.au/) but there is nothing to suggest that this outlook had changed in Harrower's tenure. Nor does it suggest the change has anything to do with Harrower himself. I believe St Clement's Kingston was charismatic before Harrower - and that didn't have anything to do with previous bishops! The rebranding might be significant, but we cannot interpret it - for that we rely on reliable sources. But it's false to say "Saint Peter's in Bay West became Wellspring": according to their website, "Wellspring Anglican Church is a parish formed by the coming together of two centrally-located Hobart Anglican Churches. BayWest Anglican (Sandy Bay) and Holy Trinity Anglican (North Hobart) merged in 2007. BayWest itself was the product of an earlier merger between West Hobart and Sandy Bay Anglican Churches."
