the sources are dubious.[edit]

I recently have seen you User:Tintor2 editing a DragonBallZ related page, is this article even notable? also Beerus, loads of sources are available depicting "Kamehameha". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.85.222.19 (talk) 10:46, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I propose a merge with this page and Android 17. The two pages contain alot of the same content and sources, both characters are connnected to eachother in terms of notability and seperate articles seem redundant. If merged, article length should be roughly the legth of 18's, since a majority of the bloat exists in the "Creation" and "Appearances" sections which restate things that apply to both characters. 17 is a start class article as well. 2603:7000:1F00:6B91:41D:27B:5729:87EB (talk) 03:39, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's not an unreasonable idea, but, oppose. Android 17 has had more recent reception information since his reintroduction into the series, and this article simply hasn't been updated, and hence it is "start" class. In any event, if there is consensus among other editors for a merge, a more suitable target for Android 17 is either List of Dragon Ball characters OR Red Ribbon Army, not Android 18, as a large aspect of 18's out-of-universe development and reception has diverged considerably from Android 17 even though they started off narratively as a pair, not to mention the fact that 18 plays a more important role within the series and has had far more frequent appearances across Dragon Ball multimedia. Second merger proposal[edit]

In addition to this, if accepted I have an image on my computer that can be used to represent both characters to speed things up.

I am requesting this again because the previous merger did not get enough traction, so there was no consensus. June Parker (talk) 00:45, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. I gave my reasons during the last merge proposal from many months ago and my position hasn't changed. It is inevitable that there will be overlap in the plot summaries across both pages because they debuted together, but there is little commonality in terms of content and sources taken from a real world perspective. Saying they are connected in terms of notability is factually incorrect. There was a long period of time where Android 18's in-universe arc diverged from 17's, she's had many more appearances which do not involve 17, and that is reflected in the sustained coverage of 18 from reliable and independent sources which often focuses on her status as a major female character or her role as a married woman and mother. She is clearly notable as a distinct and influential character in her own right: Blue Mary, Itsuki Hirata, and Ronda Rousey are three notable examples of the character's real world cultural impact. I have since added a handful of sources that took very little of my time to find, which only strengthens that claim of significance. It is much less clear with 17 from what I can tell without digging much further over an extended period of time for sources, so merging that page and condensing it into an entry under List of Dragon Ball characters OR Red Ribbon Army instead is not unreasonable. Oppose I went ahead and remove the two sections which rely heavily on abilities which might come across as fancrut and the design too. Unless the author mentions these looks, it's not worth commenting. The appearances section could also be trimmed as I don't remember too much her in the main series. There is potential to expand reception thanks to episode reviews done by Den of Geek, Anime News Network and HobbyConsolas similar to how I expanded Frieza#Reception some months ago.Tintor2 (talk) 16:41, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
