Surname spelling[edit]

It is clear from the Borschev & Partee’s obituary that this linguist had a "long-standing personal preference" for the spelling Zalizniak. The existence of this variant is admitted in Iosad et al.’s obituary. It is also the only variant used by Åkerman. Apparently, his daughter (also a linguist) also uses only i-spelling (e.g.). Surprisingly, in the English metadata of his papers the usual variant is Zaliznyak. The only Zalizniak’s paper written entirely in Enlgish that I was able to find (in fact, an English translation of Russian paper, but still) uses Zaliznjak… I have no access to his French publications, but I am pretty sure that one can find there i-spelling.

Moreover, I am even less sure what spelling of his name should be used: André, Andréi, Andrei, Andey or Andrej… @Ghirlandajo, @Gnosandes, @Lembit Staan, what do you think? Дитмар (talk) 12:13, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
