An interesting paper to be sure but better merged?--Justanother 13:50, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Metcalfe's Law is Wrong[edit]

Here's another interesting and impressive paper: "Metcalfe's Law is Wrong", Bob Briscoe, Andrew Odlyzko, and Benjamin Tilly, IEEE Spectrum, July 2006. (It's already mentioned in our Metcalfe's Law article, which IMO overstates the disagreement between Metcalfe and Briscoe/Odlyzko/Tilly.) Should we mention it in this article? The Decline of Unfettered Research[edit]

Article is currently missing a section about this essay of his, probably the most heavily referenced work (by the wider R&D world) that he's ever published. RZiman (talk) 01:47, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

PDF copy of the essay (from Odlyzko's own complete publication list -- https://www-users.cse.umn.edu/~odlyzko/doc/complete.html):
