Train Wreck[edit]

Requesting validity of train wreck...was there even a train wreck in Andover or is that false as well? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by X theatregeek x (talk) 04:46, 23 October, 2006 (UTC)

according to the city website there was no train wreck and the name predates the railroad, however it was the railroad that came up with the name, although no one knows how they came up with the name 'Andover'

I think the naming had more to do with city planning than a story. Andover used to be Grow Township and it was a really run-down awful place. Some county commissioners and city planners decided they'd like to turn Andover into a top-notch suburb, and they picked a name to fit their plans. Andover sounds classy, like Andover, MA.
