Title?[edit]

Shouldn't the title of this article be something simpler, such as "Ancient art"? I was under the impression that the title of Wikipedia pages should reflect the most common or natural reference for the subject, whenever possible, while still retaining accuracy. "Arts of the ancient world" seems needlessly flowery, and I wouldn't expect very many people to type that exact phrasing in when looking for this page (especially versus something simple like "Ancient art" or "Ancient art history"). Thoughts?

Fair use rationale for Image:Shang-ding1.jpg[edit]

Image:Shang-ding1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Celtic Art[edit]

For some reason this sophisticated branch of ancient art has been ignored altogether. There are already informative articles on the La Tene period and Celtic Art as a whole, so it shouldn't be hard for someone with more time to incorporate. I'd suggest the Battersea shield as a visual example.

Improvements Needed[edit]

I added a flag for copy editing and cleaned up the first few sections of this article to remove duplicate information, as well as information that was irrelevant to the topic. There is a lot of room for improvement here. --Rosemoonglade (talk) 15:34, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is certainly "a lot of room for improvement here", but your tag is unlikely to help. You introduced WP:ENGVAR inconsistency, and so on. Where there was "duplicate information", removing both mentions may not be the best course. Johnbod (talk) 17:21, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Irrelevant info in Mesopotamia section?[edit]

None of the information under Mesopotamia preceding Sumer seems to be relevant article. It's mostly history of the region's various empires and rulers, which none of the other regions in this article have. Is it safe to nix those three paragraphs?
