Political affiliations[edit]

To say that Anandabazar is leftist is blasphemous for Anandabazar as well as the leftists. I believe its the most neutral broadsheet newspaper in Bangla, and it could be a Bartaman Patrika (an ultra-right but anti-industry broadsheet) person which has alleged this. I have no evidence though, but the immediate reference to Bartaman looks ominous. BTW, Bartaman is the "unofficial" mouthpiece of Ms Mamata Banerjee 203.124.221.53 15:04, 1 February 2007 (UTC) Santanu[reply]

The ultra-leftists are trying to brand Anandabazar as a pro-CPI(M)newspaper. But the newspaper, it seems, has a consistent editorial policy which is fortunately or unfortuantely pro-liberalization. CPI(M) government has accepted the realities of the globalization process and trying to get best out of it for the state which they have ruled for last years and their party and the their front partners. Anandabazar appreciates that and has been accordingly engaging constructive criticism of the West Bengal government. Many naxalites who once joined Anandabazar to try their journalistic guns against the CPI(M) find this very dissappointing. But they have to toe the line dictated by their employer. They have to give in and compromise with the whims of their owner. Their blind anti-CPMism and anti-capitalism, which has fuelled unrest all over West Bengal will not go well with their employer. bad luck. That is why they have been reading and supporting editorial policies of Doinik Statesman and Bartaman. The latter papers have only one policy i.e. to report lies and damn lies. Most interesting to see what people think of ABP's political leanings. But I'm only here to recommend a merge with the other ABP article. Circulations[edit]

What is the proper reference to the line:

"With 1,130,167 daily copies, it has the largest circulation for a single-edition, regional language newspaper in India."

The current reference does not show circulations.

New Delhi edition[edit]

Anandabazar Patrika's New Delhi edition has been discontinued quite some time back. And this was not so much of an edition, it was just the Kolkata paper printed in New Delhi. It even carried the daily pullout supplement containing Kolkata news.
