Interesting thing to add to "uses" (maybe)[edit]

I'm from Atlantic Canada and I've heard from several farmers that they feed beach grass to their cows, because its salty taste make the cows drink more water, and therefore produce more milk. Does that make sense? If it does, it's a cool bit to add to the "Uses" section...173.35.32.233 (talk) 20:44, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds interesting - but you'll need some published (or other "reliable") reference to back up an addition to the article. Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 23:36, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Divide by species?[edit]

Should we or should we not divide this genus page into 2 species-pages?

Ammophila champlainensis Seymour[edit]

One type of beachgrass that is found along the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain is apparently considered a distinct, third species of Ammophila. I'm planning to add it to this article shortly, but am posting this in case a more knowledgable editor is monitoring this page. See: http://www.itis.gov/servlet/SingleRpt/SingleRpt?search_topic=TSN&search_value=185263 . Easchiff(talk) 18:28, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move article to Ammophila?[edit]

The WikiProject Plants convention is to name articles using the appropriate scientific name, which would be Ammophila for this article. I'll likely do this shortly unless there is some objection here. Marram grass will then redirect to Ammophila. Easchiff(talk) 21:15, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should have this existing title become a redirect, cause I think there's a buncha pages that link to this title already that haven't been mentioned... —Preceding unsigned comment added by TangLab (talkcontribs) 00:24, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I actually did this move about a year ago. The article, now titled Ammophila (Poaceae), used to be titled Marram Grass. Seems I should have put another comment here after I moved it! Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 11:14, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What's with the American map?[edit]

Does this plant only grow in North America? No!! Traveller palm (talk) 01:48, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point, I've added a caption to it. I was tempted to remove it all together, but something is better than nothing. SmartSE (talk) 11:49, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
