Requested move 6 August 2019[edit]

American Horror Story: 1984 → Draft:American Horror Story: 1984 – There was already a perfectly good article for this in mainspace, why has this been shunted aside ~~to American Horror Story: 1984 (version 2)~~ in a round robin move in favour of a twice rejected draft when the advice on both occasions was to merge any content into the existing page? What's the problem here? When I requested that the draft be moved to the mainspace given that filming had started, there was no article already in the mainspace, this link as a redirect. Any article content in the history was a copy-paste move that should not have occurred, because the attribution to the article's creation was at the draft, hence the requirement for a direct move. Why is someone requesting that this article be moved back to the draft space? What's going on? @PC78: Other than a bit of unnecessary detail on who provided information on start of filming, and a shorter cast list, the "perfectly good" version is virtually idential to the current one. If this is about attribution, you should request a WP:HISTMERGE, not an undo of the move. --Ahecht (TALK

There's no reason to move the page again. Of the two, the "perfectly good" version appears to have copied and pasted from the draft in this edit (based on things like the reference names), so it's best to let the edit history stand as-is. (For the record, since "American Horror Story: 1984 (version 2)" is not really a suitable redirect in mainspace, I moved that version of the article to Draft:American Horror Story: 1984) --Ahecht (TALK

Hmm, maybe, but the two pages diverged from that point and I still believe that the one already in mainspace should have been left where it was. But I don't see the point in moving the "original" into draft space; there's no need for a "draft" of an existing article, and for the sake of any attribution issues it should be necessary to keep that history in mainspace. The needed choice would seem to be, to choose, of the pages American Horror Story: 1984 and https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:American_Horror_Story:_1984&oldid=906454165 , which is the better description of American Horror Story: 1984. Well, yes. I appreciate that your initial move was in response to a request ~~on this page~~ at WP:RM/TR and it's hard to know what level of consideration went into an undiscussed move. My initial concern was that moving a twice rejected draft into mainspace over an existing page doesn't seem entirely uncontroversial. However, if (as Ahecht suggests) the original article should be dismissed as a content fork of the draft then I'm happy to accept that and move on. I've got no stake in either version of the article, but this just seemed like a messy and unnecessary series of page moves. PC78 (talk) 04:30, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is a formal move request really necessary? As a matter or course, shouldn't an uncontroversial move be reverted when contested? Frankly I'm a little disappointed that Anthony Appleyard hasn't offered more to this discussion; is a reason for moving this page and a justification for letting it stand when challenged really too much to ask? Pinging Lady Junky who seems to be the main contributor to the page now in draft space, and TedEdwards who is the main contributor to the page now in article space. While I would still appreciate some sort of response to the concerns that I've already raised, I shall otherwise leave this to whatever consencus decision is made. I absolutely do not get the issue with this page. Why are we still debating about it? The page has to exist now as per WP:NTV, because the season clearly started filming. If contents are similar, it is prolly because I merged my own draft to the other draft when I was told it existed. As for the history part, merge it or not. Angelica Ross and Emma Roberts' characters are Rita and Brooke, respectively. Draft:List of American Horror Story: 1984 characters[edit]

Hi all

I have created a draft at Draft:List of American Horror Story: 1984 characters, that can be put into the mainspace when it meets the relevant policies and guidelines (including WP:Verifiability). All editors are welcome to edit it, regardless of experience etc. I will unfortunately not be able to edit the draft much.

Looking at the articles in Category:Lists of American Horror Story characters may serve as inspiration to what needs to go into the draft, but also remember other stuff exists!
