Which variety of English for this article?[edit]

An anonymous ip editor came by and changed the variety of English used on this page. I reverted it in accordance with:

I think an argument can be made to have this article use British English rather than the US variant. Anyone care to make it? Mr. Swordfish (talk) 18:23, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

British origin and boat designer, British spelling often used in Canada as well so two of main Albacore countries use British type spelling. Dabbler (talk) 22:13, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have based your reasoning on the following sentence from the manual of style: "An article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation should use the English of that nation." I think that is a sound reason to use the British variety in this article.

The manual of style also says "When an English variety's consistent usage has been established in an article, it is maintained in the absence of consensus to the contrary." Currently, the article uses the US variety, and has since 2004. So, to change it, we need to arrive at consensus here at the talk page. I am in favor (favour?) of making this change. Other opinions? Photos[edit]

Although the Albacore is still in production with active racing fleets in the UK, US, and Canada, all the photos in the article are of boats that are forty years old or older.

I propose that we swap out some of the photos for more recent examples. I'm currently looking at several candidates, but need to get copyright clearance before including them in the article. BTW, the current "main" picture shows a boat from the 1960s that is not class legal for racing. Mr. Swordfish (talk) 21:34, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
