Afro[edit]

No mention is made of Russell Hitchcock's afro. That should be a subject of scholarly criticism.

A Nice Pear[edit]

Disambiguation[edit]

Albums' article and Russell Hitchcock & Graham Russell articles[edit]

I've done some arrangements in some of the new articles about their discography, such as correcting the infoboxes (which were wrongly done) and added the singles information, no major change, I-m about to create most of their discography articles, so anyone who could suggest me about this would be of great help. By the way, the individual articles of Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell are terribly done, the linked pages cite almost textual information, and the tone of the pages is not the encyclopedic style, please correct these.--Skibish (talk) 16:37, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia material[edit]

I noticed the following:

  • Air Supply's 1982 single "Even the Nights Are Better" holds a dubious, albeit unofficial, chart record in the United States. After peaking at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September of 1982, the song fell to #6, and then from #6 all the way to #42, making it the song to take the second-biggest single-week drop out of the Top 40 ("Abracadabra" by The Steve Miller Band fell from #10 to #48 around the same time) during the "classic" era of the American Top 40. [1] No "recurrent rule" (a practice later adopted to eliminate older hits from the countdown even though they still technically qualified for the Top 40) was in place at that time, making such a big drop in the charts quite a rare occurrence. Although this is not an official record, AT40 host Casey Kasem announced it as such a few years later when answering a fan's chart trivia question on his show. Kasem had also announced that Hitchcock held the note for over twenty seconds at the end of "All out of Love" a record at the time for a top 40 song.

I definitely remember the Kasem comment about the note Hitchcock held at the end of All Out of Love (I believe the song he said had previously held the record was Donna Summers' Dim All the Lights, see page), although I thought he said the length of Hitchcock's note was about 11 seconds. Nothing on the lawsuit?[edit]

According to an AT40 recently rebroadcast (on XM Radio), July 3rd, 1982 (introducing Even the Nights are Better), Air Supply was sued by a former manager for over 1.4 billion dollars. Now, Casey didn't say whether or not this was American or Australian (which in 1982 would have made a significant difference, more so than now), but he did say it was "all over the headlines" as financially, it was a bigger figure than the 480 million combined lawsuits between the Bee Gees and their former management, filed in '78 and settled in '81. Derivative Music[edit]

It seems to me this band consistently put out songs that sounded like others. For instance, "Even The Nights are Better" is reminiscent of "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)". They are two completely different songs. They are in the same adult contemporary- soft rock - love song category and were released a few months apart. Being in the same genre and era makes them contemporary to each other, hence the similarity. Inaccurate Information - 1980s[edit]

According to the other Wikipedia pages, there was a lot of incorrect information regarding Albhy Galuten and the Gibb Brothers in regards to the development of two albums. In cross-referencing "Lost In Love" and "The One That You Love" albums here on Wikipedia, there was no connection to either person. Therefore, references relating to those those persons have been removed from the 1980s section, and have been replaced with more accurate information. 14.55.194.52 (talk) 21:40, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Associated Acts[edit]

Why are Jesus Christ Superstar and Kenny Loggins listed as "associated acts" in the infobox? What is the connection with Air Supply? There is nothing in the article which explains it. Material in the infobox should be properly sourced, and explained in the body of the article, not left the imagination of the reader. The Jesus Christ Superstar connection is explained in the article - first sentence of the History section. But you are right, this is not the intention for the "associated acts" per Template:Infobox musical artist#associated acts. I have removed them. possible female singer for Air Supply[edit]

I don't mean using the talk section for a forum. But somehow, one of Air Supply's singers might have been female. Can someone please clarify this? Wikipedia doesn't say whether or not one of the singers was female.

@Tropical Storm Angela: Chrissie Hammond sang with Hitchcock and Russell while all three were also members of the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar (mid-1975 to late 1976). She left the trio to start a hard rock group, Cheetah (with her sister Lyndsay Hammond) before Air Supply had recorded their first single.
