Merge with Meridiana[edit]

Since Meridiana announced re-branding into Air Italy, should not the two pages be merged?[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Simpatico qa (talkcontribs) 19:37, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of Air Italy (2005–2018) into Air Italy[edit]

Air Italy may have undergone a substantial reorganisation, including a merger with Meridiana, change of AOC number and airline codes, but is essentially the same airline that started in 2005. Having two (short) articles about it is just confusing. Several companies have gone through similar transformations, including changes of legal entity or even bankruptcy, but are still covered by a single article (Piper Aircraft springs to mind, or even General Motors). The history of Air Italy (and Meridiana) is indeed rather convoluted, but having two separate articles about it doesn't help. --Deeday-UK (talk) 22:22, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose: The question is different. Air Italy and Meridiana were both from Alisarda. Air Italy has no longer operated with its brand since it was purchased by Alisarda. The new Air Italy was born from the merger of Meridiana with the old Air Italy, inheriting the flight codes from Meridiana and the name from Air Italy. So you can talk about three different airlines. --Wind of freedom (talk) 03:16, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Attention: The merge discusion has already been declared ealry in the year to keep the old Air Italy and the new Air Italy pages separate. Thank You.
