Planned or abandoned[edit]

"Planned" would suggest that a coronation is imminent. When the Queen dies, I think we are probably going to have an article titled "Planned coronation of Charles III" (or whatever he wants to be called). Suggest renaming this article "Abandoned coronation of Edward VIII". Firebrace (talk) 20:56, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with the change that was made. Planned does not automatically give such a suggestion. SecretName101 (talk) 00:02, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cancelled would be a possible alternative that would be better than “abandoned”. But I prefer going back to “planned” SecretName101 (talk) 00:03, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Crown Imperial coronation march intended for him?[edit]

I frequently hear or read it asserted (mainly Classic FM radio commentators) that William Walton's Crown Imperial coronation march was intended for Edward's coronation but got used and unveiled at his brother George VI's instead. Any evidence it was commissioned during Edward's reign? Two biographies of Walton I have read appear to indicate (without a telling date) it was commissioned after George ascended in December 1936.Cloptonson (talk) 14:51, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
