  • " early to mid 18th" shouldn't that be hyphenated, i.e. early- to mid-18th?
I think just reducing it to "in the 18th century" will do, the reader should twig it's historical, and way before Telford, and if they want specifics, they could always read Caulfield's article. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:26, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • You reference just two claims in the lead, I tend to shy away from that altogether unless it's a direct quote, and base the references in the body (because of course you'd not mention something in the lead that isn't expanded upon in the main body, would you?!)
As if :-P I've removed the sources, as they are redundant (one is a copy of what's in the body, one is just a duplicate ref of the same information) Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:26, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Could link Tyndrum and Glencoe in the lead.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:26, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • " improve the road, and a number of congestion and safety improvements " touch repetitive.
Trimmed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:26, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Classified as A82 1923[1]" would be better as "Classified as A82 in 1923[1]", similarly "Specific sections built from 1724 – present[2]"
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:26, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • " Glasgow City Council" is piped to Glasgow City which then redirects to Glasgow. I'm not sure that's what our readers would expect from that link.
Our articles on the subject are rather unhelpful, but I believe it's Glasgow (Scottish Parliament electoral region)
  • Link Gaelic first time.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Gaelic Language" no need for the capital L (or the link, see previous point).
Might as well not pipe the link either Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think you mean the reverse - "Argyll and Bute" is one of these modern inventions that makes no historical sense, but it's where the article is. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, I mean what I said. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:18, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I think I've fixed that. Good grief, this is confusing, I've never paid attention to this bit of Scotland when driving up the '82. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 20:32, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Great Western Road, Glasgow – a key transport corridor from Glasgow to Dumbarton. " if you insist on relinking Glasgow, I would do it the first time.
I think we can lose the second "Glasgow" - it's kind of obvious a road in Glasgow goes from Glasgow to somewhere else Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • " in 1816[15] and widened to its current state in the early 1970s. " why ref there and not one for the claim at the end of the sentence?
  • Similar "Military Road[20] that runs"... I don't think our readers need this visual intrusion, they can surely wait to the end of the sentence to find the source(s) that verify the preceding claims.
Both the above issues fixed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "t an estimated cost of £24 million" any chance of inflating that to today's cost? Etc. (I note you do it at least twice, further down the article).
Forgot to do this Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • You link single track (which I might argue should be single-track) but not viaduct.
Fixed, and fixed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • " 0.81 miles (1.3 km) bypass " use "adj=on" in the template.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "stays open until 10pm" seems trivial (and changeable).
It is reliably sourced. I think the context is that there is nothing else for miles around that opens that late and if you're driving a 44-ton truck up the A82 (because it is a major trunk road and you've got no choice) and starving hungry, you'd better stop there because the Scottish Highlands do not do 24-hour McDonalds anywhere except possibly Inverness. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Might be worth linking roundabout as some of our US readers may not get that.
Understood, except the first mention is "Balloch Roundabout" further up. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "1735-6 " ->1735–36.
Fixed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "a 5.2 metres (17 ft) high" adj=on again.
Fixed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • " the Isle of Skye" it's formal name is just "Skye".
Done, though I can't help feeling we've lost a bit of context for readers who don't know that Skye is an island.
  • "Wade's Military road" no need for cap M.
I think rather it needs a capital R - it's a proper noun. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:40, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "(currently incomplete) " should be WP:ASOF.
Actually, I think this can go - the cycle route opened in 2016 and the article simply wasn't updated Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:40, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "On 16 May 1934, the road was rerouted" this took place in one day?
I'm not sure if "rerouted" is the right word, but that was the date the new route was formally approved by the Scottish Ministry of Transport, which can be done at a stroke of a pen, even though it would have taken a while for local authorities to change signs. It's analogous to saying "Tony Blair became Prime Minister on 2 May 1997", it took a while for him to move into Number 10 and get all the letterheads done. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:40, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "with the Ministry of Transport and" link for that?
I think it's Department for Transport Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:40, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "8:00pm " 8 p.m. etc.
Done (shouldn't there be a template for this?) Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:40, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Link shillings.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "a 16 miles (26 km) " adj=on.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Inverness City Centre" really capitalised?
A quick search for sources suggests no Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The A82 now acts as an access road to the docklands." no ref.
Removed. While you can get to the docks via the A82, it's not the only route through the city to get there, and a search for sources show several other roads, such as the A9 and A96, provide access too. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Link Scottish Government (first time) and be consistent (i.e. fix "Scottish government").
Looking at sources, it should be all caps - fixed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but linked earlier in the article on first use Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • First Minister probably does too...
Yup, it's First Minister of Scotland Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The A82 at Onich has.." caption is a complete sentence so takes a full stop.
Fixed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Link MSP.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "10pm and 6am," see before.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • You abbreviate DVC but never use it (and I've never heard of it) so I'm sure of how that's useful.
I think there was more on this subject at one point, but it was off-topic and removed Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:51, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Table doesn't seem to meet MOS:ACCESS, both in its structure (no col or row scopes, caption etc) nor the symbols used, are those accessible to screen readers?
I've borrowed what I can from List of London Monopoly locations (which I assume as an FL is done properly) - is that any better? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:03, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Multi-page PDF sources should have page numbers provided.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:54, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • " pp. 348,356." space after comma.
Done Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:54, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A few drab comments, so I'll place it on hold. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:42, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@The Rambling Man: All addressed - any other comments? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:04, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • "and construction began in late 1972[37] at an estimated cost of £2m." horrible ref placement, and inflation please. The Rambling Man (talk) 22:11, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed, also the £2m estimated cost was not in the next citation given - also fixed. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:25, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, happy with those so passing it. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:18, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, cheers for the review as ever. I want to take a spin on the A82 again, but it's the wrong end of the country. Paddington station will be next in the queue as soon as I check one book source. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:33, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
