Untitled[edit]

Very good article, with historical facts and to the point.

Would it be to the wikidpedia community's interest to include derogatory information about the brigade?

For example, COL Pappas, brigade commander during OIF I, was the overall commander of the intel section at Abu Ghraib. And also, members of the 519th were responsible for the death of an detainee in Afghanistan.

Just a thought.

Col Pappas was not the BDE commander during OIF I. Col Pappas was the commander of the 205th MI Bde out of Germany whose job it is to provide intelligence support to V Corps. Members of the 519th MI Bn were placed under the operational control of the 205th during OIF I. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.191.117.37 (talkcontribs).

To the above unsigned contributor:

You are correct. Pappas was in charge of personnel belonging to the 525 MI Bde, not in charge of such Bde. I should have written this more accurately.

525 BfSB ?[edit]

I currently serve on Fort Bragg, and am aware that the 525 has transformed into a Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (the ACE was detached and sent to XVIII Corps G2). Here's the official 525 website. I assume that since the page hasn't been moved yet, that there is no plan to do so. Thus, I will be bold and do so myself. Parsecboy 06:10, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Broken link to unit's home page[edit]

Link to the 525's home page is now fixed. Rafa8134 21:02, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unit History Errors?[edit]

I need to question the accuracy of some history statements.

“On 16 September 1978, it returned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina where it was redesigned as the 525th Military Intelligence Brigade (Airborne).” When I came into the unit November 1976 and until September 1978, 1st MI Bn (AE) also known as the 1st MIBARS and a former Field Army asset, the 218th MI Det (Abn) which was a direct asset of the XVIII Abn Corps, and 519th MI Bn (Tech Intel) and also a former Field Army asset, were under the command and control of the 18th MI Group (CEWI) (Provisional) (Corps). Some provisional reorganization took place in 1978 establishing a provisional group headquarters, a provisional group headquarters company, and a provisional CEWI Operations Battalion. When reorganization and redesignation took place in 1978 it was as the 525th Military Intelligence Group (Abn) – not brigade. Redesignation as a Brigade did not take place until after 30 Jun 1982, the date on which I retired at Fort Bragg.

“After deactivation in 1968, the (319th Operations) battalion was reactivated in 1982 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as a subordinate unit of the 525th Military Intelligence Brigade.” The 319th became organic to the 525th MI Group concurrent to reactivation of the 525th MI Group.

Activation and assignment of the 224th MI (AE) to 525th MI Group seems to be accurate as I was involved with the stationing and activation planning for the unit at the former SAC Hunter AFB prior to my retirement June 1982.

I see that some of the same errors exist at the 525 Battlefield Surveillance Brigade web site.

Proper Unit Patch?[edit]

Could someone place the proper Unit patch, including the black Airborne Tab on the article main page? Emt1299d (talk) 01:22, 29 June 2012 (UTC) Nevermind. I guess they have removed the Tab since I was there. Emt1299d (talk) 01:27, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reflagged 525th MI Brigade[edit]

The 525th BfSB has been re-designated the "525th Military Intelligence Brigade". This page, and it's corresponding links need to be modified. http://www.fayobserver.com/news/local/th-military-intelligence-brigade-unveiled-on-fort-bragg/article_fa19cc96-f895-59f3-accb-eb9015281b15.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by FormerDirtDart (talkcontribs) 14:19, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
