Barnard at PHM[edit]

Right, so we have two conflicting sources about this one:

- the one currently in use from 7 December that clearly states that Barnard "will step up to FIA Formula 3 next year", with the team not explicitly stated as being PHM Racing (even though there is a quote from the PHM team manager pretty much confirming him for the team)

- a new one from 24 December that states that "the three F3 seats remain to be filled".

I would appreciate any comment on how we handle this until more confirmation appears. Leave Barnard in for PHM? Leave him in the table, but put TBA for the team and explain it with a note? Throw him out completely?

Pinging @RxxingAddict, @RediyaV226 for their opinions on this matter as they previously edited about this issue.

It says that he will drive in fia f3 for the same team doesn’t it? RxxingAddict (talk) 12:47, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see anywhere where PHM has said Barnard will drive for the team in FIA F3, and even their announcement of the Formula Regional ME move avoids saying so. Telling that the series has not announced Barnard yet either. RediyaV226 (talk) 12:55, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No announcement coming from FIA F3 themselves is pretty telling, yeah. But one could read PHM's manager's quote that way, but I agree it is not very clear.
Still, with the second article also contradicting a confirmation of his drive, I would be in favor of removing him until there is more confirmation, either another secondary source that clears up the deadlock of the two sources we currently have, or an official confirmation from FIA F3. Don't add DNFs mid-race[edit]

Don't add DNFs mid-race. Just get it right first time after the race is done. Wikipedia isn't a news service. It isn't a race to publish first and there is no award for having the most wikipedia edits. -- Falcadore (talk) 23:25, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Round 3[edit]

Why has Monaco become listed as Round 3 when it is still officially recognised as Round 4? The Imola round was cancelled, not deleted. -- Falcadore (talk) 05:25, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I believe there is a discussion currently going on at this years' F1 article about the same topic. For now, we should treat Imola's cancellation the same as the F1 and F2 articles (so deleting the round and moving all further rounds one number up), until the F1 discussion reaches a conclusion if the round is to be reincluded in the list. If that happens, we can still adjust the F2 and F3 articles accordingly. H4MCHTR (talk) 06:24, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Consistency in championship tables links[edit]

"Drivers' Championship" and "Constructors' Championship" tables both have links at the top for each round. BHR and ALB both link to the specific page for that round of the championship; the others (including MON and ESP which we have now had as of writing this) link to the circuits. Is there consensus as to whether these should all link to the circuit, all link to the specific race, or change as races are completed? EntirelyOnline (talk) 21:19, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there is a consensus for this, but I believe it makes more sense if they all link to the specific race. H4MCHTR (talk) 05:31, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

bortoleto's photo....[edit]

i know wikipedia has to use images that are copyright free but surely theres a better picture of him GarethBaloney (talk) 09:15, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A quick search of Wikimedia Commons shows that this is the only picture of him, all other pics are of his car. H4MCHTR (talk) 09:55, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Michael or Woohyun Shin?[edit]

It is a bit of a question whether we should use the name "Michael Shin" or "Woohyun Shin" for this driver. My suggestion is that we use the name Michael, because all over social media he is mostly known as Michael Shin, and even in all the championships he raced in, he was only known as Michael. Just Formula 3 uses the name Woohyun, but as for some other F3 drivers, f.e. Pepe Martí and former driver Charles Leong, are or were called Josep María Martí and Hon-Chio Leong in F3, but they are better known as Pepe and Charles. Michael Shin would also apply to WP:COMMONNAME. BryOn2205U (talk) 15:30, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If the FIA uses "Woohyun Shin", "Josep María Martí", "José María Boya" etc. then we use those names if we are to follow the precedent set by licence nationality for teams and drivers. 110.149.163.66 (talk) 11:12, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree that licence nationality and driver name are to be looked at the same way. There is a WP:COMMONNAME, but not a WP:COMMONNATIONALITY as far as I am aware and that has a reason. Nowhere except on the entry list is Pepe Marti called by his full name, so that is fairly clear-cut.
For Michael Shin, media is divided in how to call him, so this has to be looked at, but without throwing away the consensus established earlier for other driver names and licence nationalities. H4MCHTR (talk) 12:48, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Macau GP[edit]

In my opinion there should be a clarification for the Macau non-championship round, that there is a Qualifying race on 18 Nov and a Main race on 19 Nov. I wanted to clarify it by separating the Macau round from the rest of the calendar and making a new grid only with the Macau race, showing the dates of both the Qualifying race and the Main race, the same as with the official F3 calendar with Sprint race/Feature race. Now @MSportWiki seems to disagree with it, moving the Macau race to the F3 calendar grid. The problem now is that the dates for both of the Macau races are for a Sprint and Feature race, which of course is wrong, as it should be a Qualifying race and Main race. So I don't agree with this change and would like to find a solution for this problem. BryOn2205U (talk) 12:37, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The clarification is in the 'NC' under the round number in the table, and also in the prose under the table. If you're worried about sprint race vs qualifying race, put a note at the bottom of the table. Having just one NC round is not enough for a separate table – free practice drivers in 2009 is another example of not using tables for single lines. Your way just looks messy. I just tried something else. You might check it out. BryOn2205U (talk) 09:07, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That will do. MSportWiki (talk) 00:11, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
