The Legend of Zelda: BOTW 2 is still development[edit]

Untitled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel was still development. An official logo would be unveiled by Nintendo official announcement. A release date won't be delayed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.194.143.194 (talk) 05:20, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

income[edit]

Why is there no game revenue ranking in 2022? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 勇士小易 (talkcontribs) 13:33, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

World related issues already have exclusive entries[edit]

World related issues already have exclusive entries on wikipedia i.e russian-ukraine conflict and videogames, e-sport, etc. All content should belong there in my opinion

This page is already convoluted with notable deaths, major events, coronavirus and etc. AveragePopfan (talk) 08:50, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Those pages are particularly both too details and are missing details covered here. Lists don't work well to explain broader aspects. --Masem (t) 12:10, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

References Broken[edit]

The References section for this page seem to stop working as there are now 1,200+ Reference sources for this page (but they're all hidden).-Prince Silversaddle (talk) 17:38, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Taking a page from the Nintendo Switch lists, I think that as long as the game is a blue-link (and thus the release should be sourced on that page) we don't need to release here.
But I would add: we should only be listing the first major release of a game, with later ports not included; rereleases like remasters and remakes that are treated as a new package can be listed but again, only their first major release.
I would also tend to not include games that do not have their own articles, though these can be added after an article has been created. --Masem (t) 23:59, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Too big[edit]

With a third of the year still remaining, this page - at 592,605 bytes - is currently the longest on Wikipedia. How can it be reduced, or subdivided? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:45, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've said this above in regards to the ref issue: the only games we should be tracking are those with blue links or have reasonable redirects to blue-linked articles (like sequels yet to be expanded out), and we should not be including every rerelease on a new platform, only the first time the game is released ever. (Remasters/remakes are separate games for this purpose). Masem (t) 16:48, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like we can remove entries without articles and any entries which were not originally released in 2022. Onetwothreeip (talk) 07:09, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, just split it! 98.148.167.84 (talk) 23:50, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Tracking only games released for the first time sounds great. That said, this is probably the most comprehensive list of games being released in a given year on the Internet, and I think losing that would be a net negative. I cannot think of the exact way but somehow being able to keep track record of everything else, including re-releases on other platforms, would be amazing. Jonathan Strange (talk) 10:41, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also think that many of the entries in this list is not notable. They are included simply because Gematsu or Siliconera (which covered niche games) quoted a press release. Survival Quiz City, for instance, is not notable at all, and probably shouldn't really be included in this list. IMO unreviewed titles shouldn't be listed here at all. Should only blue links be on this page?[edit]

By this rate, at the end of the year, this page will be bigger than that Asha Bosle list that is currently the largest on Wikipedia, so should only things with pages be mentioned? DizzyTheMan (talk) 00:48, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that we can't (and already don't) list all video games released in a year, but I don't think only including games with articles is the right way either - obviously notable games are constantly being announced without enough information for an article to be viable yet, and I think we do readers a disservice if we don't include high-profile games on here.--AlexandraIDV 10:33, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
