Merger proposal[edit]

The XXX–XX United States network television (daytime) and (late night) schedules should all be merged into the main page because of redundancy and the possible lack of interest. kpgamingz (rant me) 17:26, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Separation of Friday night from Weeknight Schedule[edit]

I and other users do not understand the repeated addition of the Friday overnight schedule. To be blunt, there seems to be a stunning lack of understanding of network schedule variations as well as use of MoS and citations. If, for example, “Today with Hoda and Jenna” repeats were shown in every market (it’s not on at all overnight in my market and I live in an NBC owned and operated market) then it would be placed on the schedule and there would be some differentiation between NBC Friday night and the weeknight. But there isn’t and this addition is unsourced. This leaves mostly minor differences between Friday and Monday-Thursday in which case the two schedules should simply be merged. Keep in mind that for years, there wasn’t even differentiation between weeknight and weekend late night programming. Also keep in mind that daytime and late night schedules have repeatedly been suggested to be merged in general. These pages should be a simple overview, not an extensive reflection of minor affiliate programs. Thematrix92498 (talk) 22:32, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with it. I also specified several times why I undid the edits so every user would understand what I meant. — MrE (talk) 22:49, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok now i understand all this but this addition of weekend schedule was about the same why we did this in the first place but however the only difference between late night and daytime is because the days change during overnight hours (meaning friday night and Saturday morning are in the same schedule and so is sunday night and Monday morning which is why the end of the weekday schedule is the same as the sunday schedule) so why would we add weekend overnights but not early morning during both days of the weekend? Hoopstercat (talk) 19:46, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We are adding BOTH weekend schedules despite there being absolutely no difference between Sunday and weeknights other than NFL on Fox. That is seasonal and it’s a concession that we’re even allowing that. Friday night/Saturday early morning programming is literally no different than Monday-Thursday overnight/early morning programming. Thematrix92498 (talk) 05:11, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree with you on that but i think we might do friday and saturday nights instead of Saturday and sunday night wouldn't you agree? Hoopstercat (talk) 15:37, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think that is the way to go and feel free to make those edits. I do support that. Just either move the sports program on Sunday to the 11pm slot and specify it’s only on Sundays with small font or add a bullet point below the actual schedule. Thematrix92498 (talk) 15:40, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, if there ends up being no difference between Friday nights and weeknights aside from the lack of early morning broadcasts (I think that is the only difference), we should just have Sunday-Friday and a separate schedule for Saturday. Otherwise it’s just more of the same information and now we’ve run into the problem of late-night talk shows as those don’t air on Sunday nights. Either way, the only night that is really broadcasting alternative programming is Saturday. Thematrix92498 (talk) 20:22, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sunday–Friday overnights[edit]

I think it's irrelevant to add the "weekdays" in brackets to all the programming. As the difference comes between the late night shows and the overnight newscasts, I think it would be a better idea to specify that information on a note under the table rather than adding that non-understandable legend. — MrE (talk) 16:50, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I will work on this in the next few days. I have been away on vacation. Apologies. Thematrix92498 (talk) 03:54, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sunday overnights[edit]

Over the last couple of days we have more programming being on the Sunday schedule on nbc and in the last tv season it’s getting really messy so should we divide the Sunday and remake the weeknights schedule? Hoopstercat (talk) 18:33, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Late night and daytime schedules[edit]

Since I wouldn’t recommend going to have 4 schedules (1 for weekdays and 1 each for Friday-Sunday overnights) should we merge the overnight and daytime schedules since recently we have all of the hours added to a schedule in some way and also daytime and late night follow almost the same guidelines the only expectation between the 2 is the colors on the schedule daytime has more genres then late Night does so I recommend having a combined 3 schedules at the following: 1 schedule for Monday 11 pm et- Friday 8 p.m ,Friday 11 pm -2 am et Saturday and Monday 2-8 pm et (weekday schedule) 1 schedule for Saturday 2 am et- Saturday 8 pm et (Saturday schedule due to the differences during the overnight schedule happen after 2 am et early on Saturday Morning) 1 schedule for Saturday 11 pm et- Monday at 2 am et (since the differences happen before 2am et Monday morning since for the rest of the overnight hours it follows the weekday schedule) 1 schedule for Saturday 11 pm et- Sunday 7 pm et Hoopstercat (talk) 23:48, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And I recommend applying that after next tv season (2023-24) so it gives time for everyone to agree on plus I have drafts made for 2022-23 tv season for both daytime and late night already made Hoopstercat (talk) 23:50, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Late night and Overnight schedule spilt[edit]

Since late night and overnight are 2 different parts of dayparting and that’s where all the confusion of things like Saturday overnight is part of Friday late night and such so I think it’s best to have a 4th type of schedule to resolve this if you have anything to say reply Hoopstercat (talk) 19:01, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hours on the schedule[edit]

I keep seeing a lot of hour changes to the schedule so what’s happening on that? Hoopstercat (talk) 01:11, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Since my opinion is to keep it as it is and go with every 30 mins (half hour) like all other schedules plus that’s why the small template indicating the times is there Hoopstercat (talk) 01:12, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fox[edit]

Should Fox be included in the by network section? Since it only does reairs on primetime shows ? Hoopstercat (talk) 18:38, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
