Article name[edit]

I suggest moving the article to 2020 Russian elections so that it is consistent with the articles for the previous regional elections. Mellk (talk) 22:02, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Previous practice isn't entirely consistent - see Category:Regional_elections_in_Russia. This shows that 2012 & 2017 included "regional" in the title but 2014, 016, 2018 & 2019 didn't. 2018 had a separate article for 2018_Russian_gubernatorial_elections which included the governors but not the parliaments whilst the 2018 article itself inexplicably covered both the elections in September and the presidential election in March.
The current title is more consistent with practice in other countries - eg 2020 United States state legislative elections or 2019_Belgian_regional_elections AndrewRT(Talk) 22:24, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well we have a problem here. Articles like for 2018, 2016 mention all elections on a national and sub-national level, while the one for 2012 only mentions local elections. 2014 does not have "regional" in the name but only includes local elections. So either we should have "regional" in all of them but remove everything about presidential and State Duma elections from these articles that mention it, or remove "regional" from all of them and articles such as for 2012 will have the presidential election mentioned. Yes indeed, it is a bit messy. My personal preference is to have a series on regional elections which is consistent with the set up of the elections template. I'm haappy to help implement that if there is consensus support. I'm not convinced there is a need to separate out the governor and regional assembly elections given they both happen on the same day and the campaigns are both reported in the same articles. Do you have a view on that? AndrewRT(Talk) 19:28, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree on having a single page for both governor and regional assembly, excluding national election which have their own pages. Could also include the by elections and municipal elections. That's how it's done on the Russian and French pages, anyways. Also, to avoid having a page called "regional" when only "local" elections took place that year, the serie of pages could be called a broader "2020 Russian subnational elections", but that's just my two cents--Aréat (talk) 19:57, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deprecated source[edit]

I've added some information from RT on the number of candidates that are standing in this election. Whilst I understand that this is a deprecated source, I see no issue with using it for an article like this to back up some purely factual information like the number of candidates. Am I ok to use it in this context? AndrewRT(Talk) 22:16, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
