Merger[edit]

Conditionally support mergerI will begin the discussion, since it does not seem to have otherwise begun elsewhere. (Please correct me if I am wrong) The event is notable, but clearly we do not need two articles for the same event. I will go with consensus as to the articles name, but I strongly support merger.Juneau Mike (talk) 01:26, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article talks about the same topic that is spoken in the other, it's just in a different location but the reasons of the conflict were the same. wu22222(MSG) 19:06, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Weak oppose unless there are sources that show that the gangs involved in the 2016 riots are the same as those for the 2017 riots - I can't find the names of the gangs on the references for the Agricultural Penitentiary of Monte Cristo riot. Also, linking the 2016 riots to the later one also highlights the problem of the article page name, 2017 Brazil prison riots, which should also perhaps be reviewed given that riots extend into 2018. Agree, this article is a mess. It starts with the January 2017 riots, and then it says "Five days later.." and then it links to the Agricultural Penitentiary of Monte Cristo riot which were on 16 October 2016. Article needs a cleanup. Aquatic Ambiance (talk) 12:45, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
