European berths (remaining scenarios)[edit]

There are three remaining teams for this season's league championship: Tre Penne (in the final), La Fiorita (in the semi-final) and Folgore (in the semi-final). La Fiorita have won this season's cup, thereby clinching a berth in UEL Q1, irrespective of their league finish.

Scenario One

Folgore defeats La Fiorita in the semi-final, Tre Penne defeats Folgore in the final.
Tre Penne are league champions, clinch UCL Q1; Folgore are league runners-up, clinch UEL Q1; La Fiorita still have their UEL Q1 berth from winning the cup.

Scenario Two

Folgore defeats La Fiorita in the semi-final, Folgore defeats Tre Penne in the final.
Folgore are league champions, clinch UCL Q1; Tre Penne are league runners-up, clinch UEL Q1; La Fiorita still have their UEL Q1 berth from winning the cup.

Scenario Three

La Fiorita defeats Folgore in the semi-final, Tre Penne defeats La Fioira in the final.
Tre Penne are league champions and clinch UCL Q1. La Fiorita are league runners-up but because they already have UEL Q1 berth, the league runners-up berth passes to the next highest placed team, the semi-final loser (Folgore in this case).

Scenario Four

La Fiorita complete their league and cup double, they defeat Folgore and Tre Penne to win the championship. La Fiorita clinch UCL Q1 berth, Tre Penne have their UEL Q1 berth for league runners-up; La Fiorita UEL Q1 berth (for their cup win) passes to Folgore, the next highest placed team.
(NB: This scenario occurred last season when Folgore did the league and cup double, their UEL Q1 berth passed to La Fiorita, the semi-final loser).

In each scenario, the semi-final loser WILL qualify for UEL Q1.--Chris0282 (talk) 13:40, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, all three teams have qualified for European competitions (Champions League or Europa League). Nobody is disputing that and it could definately be added as prose, with a reliable source like this. But in scenario 1 and scenario 2, where La Fiorita is eliminated in the semi-final, they have not qualified based on their league position, they qualified based on cup win. For that reason we can not list them as qualified semi-finals loser, because that was not the way they qualified. Qed237 (talk) 14:03, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your explanation, I based my original edit from last season's article, which stated that La Fiorita qualified for 2015–16 UEL but did not have a footnote to explain how they qualified (by being the highest ranked team not already Europe-qualifed (Folgore did league/cup double)).--Chris0282 (talk) 14:43, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I recognized the slight misunderstanding you two were having about this and planned on putting a message on here to help out. Unfortunately, I ran out of time yesterday and didn't get around to it. Glad you figured it out. Equineducklings (talk) 20:55, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
