Key Games[edit]

It seems like we have this discussion every year, and nothing ever gets decided, but might as well try again. The "key games" section, doesn't it seem a little bit like original research and editor opinion? It's basically individual wikipedia editors deciding that a particular game was "key", usually just because it's either one of the teams they root for or because both of the teams had a ranking (just because they were both ranked does automatically make it an important game, and especially not "wiki-worthy"). Should we include this section this year? Two weeks into the season and it's almost as long as last years key games section Ryan2845 (talk) 13:12, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This section violates WP policy WP:No original research, one of Wikipedia's three core content policies. It's totally subjective as to what games are "key", and that kind of opinion does not belong in WP. There is no criteria for inclusion, and as such, it should be deleted. I'm deleting it now. No one has responded to this but has re-added it to the article. I'm removing it again. This list is original research. Who determines what games are "key"? JohnnyPolo24 (talk) 13:39, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Ryan and JohnnyPolo. Good work removing the section. — X96lee15 (talk) 16:13, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I disagree, we have this discussion every year because it should be included. Who else is with me?--Levineps (talk) 05:29, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you can give a solid argument as to why it should be included and how it does not violate WP:No original research, i'd be interested in hearing it. But unless there is some unbiased, un-opinionated way to determine what games are "key games", then it should not be on wiki. Ryan2845 (talk) 07:34, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Proposal for the criteria. A game is included if it meets any of the following:
1) Game played between two teams ranked (at the time of the game) in either major poll
2) Game played between two teams who at the end of the season are ranked or finish with 10+ wins
3) Conference championship game —Ute in DC (talk) 18:52, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
