Peter Nichoals missed a penalty in this shoot-out, guys, not Charlie Nicholas. Check other websites, including your own! It's also in the Daily Mirror's match report. Cris Freddi — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.35.5.230 (talk) 13:31, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First UK Final to go to penalties?[edit]

I'm sure I remember hearing at the time that this was the first major UK final to go to penalty kicks, but I just cannot find any source to confirm this (I've checked the Glasgow Herald and Evening Times on google newspapers, usually good sources for Scottish football, but nada). Can anyone confirm this or am I just havering? ShugSty (talk) 10:44, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It perhaps depends on your definition of a major competition. The 1974 Drybrough Cup final between Celtic and Rangers went to penalties. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 11:11, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
