Independent tournaments[edit]

I see a big need to add extra tournaments to these Grand Prix season pages that are listed on the ATP website but not on wikipedia. It should be very clear the tournaments added will mention they aren't part of the Grand Prix circuit but I feel it makes more sense to put them on here rather than create an independent tournament page as by the late 70's there were very few independent events that weren't part of the ATP or WCT circuits(apart from a few exhos). There are other ATP / WTA year articles which contain non-tour or independent events, such as 1977 WTA Tour, but mixing them together can create confusion for the reader and it means that the content of an article no longer matches the article title. For those reasons I believe a better solution would be to create a separate year article for the non-tour / independent events which can be linked to from the 'See also' section.--Wolbo (talk) 15:07, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think that is understandable. My criticism of this though is that there aren't that many tournaments that weren't part of the Grand Prix nor WCT circuits. It would probably make more sense in the early 70's but by the late 70's a vast majority of events were either affiliated with the GP Tour or WCT Tour. I think having a centralised article makes stuff easier to access as well and the independent events will be listed as not being affiliated with the circuit. However, it does make sense to have them listed separately, I just don't know whether it's necessary to create a new article for them. Either way I intend to list more events down from this period. I might list them on here temporarily before creating a new page then adding them to it if that’s okay?. --Xc4TNS (talk) 21:04, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
