Ammonite?[edit]

Do we mean another word? An ammonite is pretty fossil. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 11:24, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinate error[edit]

{{geodata-check}}

The following coordinate fixes are needed for

40.538333, -74.378611

Location od Nixon Nitration Plant was on banks of the Raritan River; these coordinates identify an inland development off New Durham Road north of Route 287.

From the The Central New Jersey Home News 07 Jun 1960, Tue · Page 5 "The plant is situated on a flat piece of land along the Raritan River near the west end of the Raritan Arsenal. It covers about 75 acres and comprises many buildings."

In a 1954 Raritan Township Map (http://www.metuchen-edisonhistsoc.org/resources/Historic+Preservation+Map+1954+ONLY+TO+BE+USED+FOR+ROUTE+27+ZONING.PDF) (Raritan name changed to Edsion in 1954 Referendum) The Nixon Nitration Works is identified on the map as near the end of Mill Road, east of Mill Road and West of Raritan Arsenal. Better coordinates would be 40.49695604082982, -74.36588617942192

I've emended the coordinates to 40.490, -74.363, which seems to match the location shown on the maps you cite, as well as reducing the precision appropriately for such an extensive site. If you still think that there is an error, drop me a note on my talk page. Deor (talk) 23:25, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
