Racine or Chicago? 8th place?[edit]

You say they finished 8th, but shouldn't it say tied for 8th?

The standings refer to them as Racine Cardinals. Is this correct? Your link doesn't refer to them as Racine. Wikipedia team/year pages for other teams change the names to the teams name for that year.Jdtrue63 (talk) 07:21, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody called them "the Racine Cardinals" in 1921[edit]

The title should be moved to 1921 Chicago Cardinals. The NFL record manual refers to them as the Chicago Cardinals, and I don't think the person who created this has cited even one source that would justify this silly title. While it's true that the team used the Racine name as late as October in the 1920 season, they identified themselves as the Chicago Cardinals after defeating the Chicago Tigers on November 7. 1921 Racine Cardinals season1921 Chicago Cardinals season – This request extends to the 1920 season as well, but I thought it best not to duplicate. Contemporary reports sometimes referred to the team in 1920 and 1921 as the Racine Cardinals,[1][2] and sometimes as the Chicago Cardinals.[3][4] A search on Newspapers.com for "Racine Cardinals" returns 118 matches in 1920 and 33 in 1921, whereas "Chicago Cardinals" returns 137 in 1920 and 429 in 1921.

The 2022 NFL Record & Fact Book lists the team as the Chicago Cardinals in the standings for both 1920 and 1921 (see page 406), as well as on their team page (page 139).[5] I believe, therefore, that using Chicago Cardinals makes more sense. At any rate, we need clarity on this issue; pages such as 1921 Green Bay Packers season refer to the team as the Chicago Cardinals, and may need to be changed for consistency. Harper J. • Support moves. They're most frequently referred to as the Chicago Cardinals, even in the APFA years. O.N.R. (talk) 04:07, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, go by what the NFL record book says. The news media appears to support the notion that was the name at the time based on there being so many more stories for the Chicago vs Racine Cardinals. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:16, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
