Peter Mponda[1] (born 4 September 1981) is a retired Malawian association footballer. He played as a central defender and was the captain of the Malawi national team.[citation needed] He is currently the head coach for the Black Leopards in the South African National First Division.

In November 2019, he was appointed coach of the Malawi national under-20 football team.[2]

Managerial career[edit]

In the summer of 2023, he returned to his former Black Leopards club as an assistant coach under head coach Alejandra Dorado.[3][4] After several poor results, the club decided to elevate Mponda to the head coach position on September 28, 2023.[5]
