The Perth Ram Temple is a Hindu temple proposed for construction at Perth, Western Australia, Australia. As planned, it will be the tallest temple dedicated to Rama ever built in the world with an elevation of 721 feet (220 m) which would be twice the height of the Viraat Ramayan Mandir.[1][2] At its potential cost of 600 crore (US$75 million) it is likely to be one of the most expensive temples in the world. The temple has been planned by the International ShriRam Vedic And Cultural Union (ISVACU), and is expected to take up around 150 acres (61 hectares) of land.[3]

History[edit]

The developers have said that the temple will also feature a yoga and meditation center, a cultural center, a guest house, a Vedas learning center, a multi-functional community hall, Permarth Rasoi (community kitchen), an art gallery and a library of ancient books and scripts including the Ramayana and other publications. It will also organize cultural shows, celebrate festivals such as Rama Navami and holistic well-being programmes.[4][5][6][7]

Planning[edit]

The temple is expected to exceed the size of the Ram Mandir situated in Ram Janmabhoomi, Ayodhya, India.[8]

It will also include a bio-sewage treatment plant and a solar power plant, aiming for a zero carbon footprint throughout the temple.[7]
