Nicholas George Hagen Godoy (born 2 August 1996) is a Guatemalan professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew and the Guatemala national team.
Club career[edit]
He emerged in the basic forces of the C.S.D. Municipal and joined the senior team on July 1, 2016. He won 2 Liga Nacional titles and received the Josue Danny Ortiz Trophy in the Clausura Tournament 2017, an award given to the least defeated goalkeeper. He was the youngest goalkeeper to obtain this recognition. [3]
After great performances in the Liga Nacional de de Guatemala and in the national team, the goalkeeper was wanted by several teams, even undergoing trials with the C.F. Pachuca of Liga MX and by the K.V. Kortrijk of the Belgian Pro League.[4]
He was finally presented to Sabail FK of the Azerbaijan Premier League on September 4, 2020 as a free transfer and was there until the end of the 2020-21 season, ending his contract with said club at mid-July 2021. He made his debut on September 12 on matchday 2 of the league championship. [5]
On July 30, 2021, it was news that he had signed with the Norwegian club Hamarkameratene for the 2021-2022 season.[6] [7]
On July 1, 2023, he was presented as a new signing for Bnei Sakhnin F.C. of the Israel League.
After spending a month without a team after leaving Bnei Sakhnin due to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, he was presented as a new signing for the American MLS side Columbus Crew.
On 13 April 2024, Hagen made his debut with Columbus Crew by replacing injured teammate Evan Bush in a match against Real Salt Lake. The match ended 0-0 and Hagen got his first clean sheet with the crew on his debut.[8]
International career[edit]
Hagen made his debut for the Guatemala national team on 18 August 2018.[2]
